Pittsburgh Pirates 2025 International Signing Class
Keeping track of the Pirates international signings and bonus amounts with available scouting reports
The 2025 International signing period begins on January 15, where teams are free to officially sign amaetur players from around the world.
Most players have deals in place with teams for years in advance, but 2025 brings a bit of a wrinkle to things. With Roki Sasaki available, whoever signs him will have to withdraw all of their offers to other players, as he is likely to command most, if not all, of the team’s pool amount.
We’ve already seen one effect of that, as the Pirates were able to swoop in and get an agreement from Darell Morel, who was originally set to sign with the Dodgers.
Here’s a list of the players have signed so far. You can read up on the class on today’s Morning Rundown. John Dreker should have reports on them in the coming days, which we will include in a separate article.
Any bonus amounts, or added information we will also update on here.
It’s a current amount of 23 total signings as of now. There will be two more signing in the upcoming days, which will be announced once they have been completed.
Per the listed signing bonuses—plus the two remaining signings—the Pirates exhausted their entire bonus pool. The only way any further signings will happen is if they are for $10,000 or less or they acquire more funds. — Ethan

I forgot to mention this tidbit. I got some brief info on the players who signed. I really like the sound of Edgar Walker. I'm told he hits for power and doesn't swing and miss. That last part is literal, as in someone who watched him over a series of days didn't see a single swing-and-miss. Possible hidden gem there. He's 6'0", 180 lbs. 17 years old, but still first time eligible to sign
You may have seen a player named Carlos Lorenzo signed, a right-handed pitcher from the Dominican. He was signed months ago and he's part of the 2024 signing class.
I'm sure some of you saw who the other two players are, but I can guarantee you that neither one of them signed today. As I mentioned this morning "Some of the signings might not be completed today". The two remaining players are scheduled to have a signing ceremony in their home country coming up soon with Pirates officials who were busy today in the Dominican.
If you noticed the rather specific bonus total for Morel, you might be able to figure that out by adding up the known bonus totals (JDLS is either $2.25M or $2.4M, not sure if the press figured that out) and checking out the pool available. Same exact thing happened when Solomon Maguire signed for an odd amount.
