Pittsburgh Pirates confident on Konnor Griffin's hitting ability
Despite some industry concerns, Pirates confident in top pick's hit tool
When the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Konnor Griffin as the ninth overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, they thought they were getting a potential superstar and face of the franchise-type player.
Thanks to his plus arm, elite speed, and power potential, Griffin was considered to have the most upside in the entire draft.
Some scouts had questions about his hit tool, as they felt he’d have to tweak some things at the pro level to have some success.
When talking to Pirates’ Director of Amateur Scouting Justin Horowitz, he seemed confident in Griffin’s ability not only to hit but hit well at the next level.
