Sammy Siani's multi triple game builds on recent streak
After slow start, Sammy Siani slowly getting to game
It was a slow start to the season for Altoona Curve outfielder Sammy Siani. While it’s still early in the season, it’s been an exact split now for Siani when it comes to the 20 games he has played in 2025.
The first 10 games were a struggle. He went 6-39 (.153) with three runs scored, a home run, six walks, and 10 strikeouts. He only picked up one hit in the first six games he played, and it just so happened that it was a home run.
Things have quickly turned in his favor, however. In the second 10 games he’s played this season, Siani has 12 hits (.315), five of which have gone for extra bases, scored seven runs, and has 11 RBI. He has also walked (seven) more than struck out (6).
He showed out on Tuesday against Akron, hitting a pair of triples while also stealing a base and driving in three runs (scored once himself).
Through 20 games, Siani has hit .234/.337/.390 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 10 runs scored, and is a perfect eight-for-eight on stolen base attempts.
After a strong performance at the Arizona Fall League, Siani wasn’t added to the Pirates’ 40-man roster during the offseason, although he wasn’t selected in the Rule 5 draft, eventually returning to Altoona.
He’s more in the Sal Frelick profile, with more of a speed-based game with contact than power. Siani is also a plus defender at all three outfield positions.
The Pirates don’t have a lot of outfield prospect depth in the upper levels, so if Siani can continue to hit, there could be some opportunities that present themselves in the near future.
