Scouting Notes: Michael Kennedy Two-Prong Fastball Approach
The Pirates fourth round pick from a year ago, Kennedy is continuing a strong debut season in professional baseball.
If there is one thing that you can count on for the Pirates to due during the draft under Ben Cherington, is to take a high upside prep pitcher in the early rounds.
Jared Jones, Bubba Chandler, and Anthony Solometo are the more well known names in the system who were prep draft picks, but Michael Kennedy is another name from the 2022 class who is close to wrapping up his first professional season in the Florida Complex League.
Especially considering his age, it’s hard to argue it hasn’t been a successful debut season for Kennedy. As of his latest start, Kennedy has 55 strikeouts in 42.1 innings, posting a 2.13 ERA while holding opponents to an .171 average.
