Thomas Harrington showed command of entire strike zone in 2024
Control, splitter, helped Thomas Harrington in Triple-A success in 2024
Selected 36th overall in 2022, Thomas Harrington became the highest-drafted pitcher from Campbell in the school’s history. It was quite the story, as he joined the team as a walk-on and eventually worked his way up to the weekend rotation before being drafted by the Pirates.
While his stuff doesn’t jump off the charts compared to someone like Bubba Chandler, Harrington is a legitimate Top 100 prospect for his command and control. He consistently throws upwards of four pitches for strikes.
In 117.2 innings pitched last year, Harrington walked just 19 batters, a 4.14% rate. The strikeouts faded when he got to Triple-A, but thanks to the control, hitters had difficulty squaring up the ball.
Getting to that many innings was impressive, considering he missed the first month of the season due to a shoulder injury.
