Overview
Peters played for Chandler-Gilbert CC for two years, the first as a reliever and the second as a starter. He then pitched a year as a reliever for Gonzaga and one mostly as a starter for Western Kentucky. He had a rough time with Gonzaga, getting hit very hard. With Western Kentucky he had a 4.73 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, with a 5.6 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9. He did better in summer ball in 2025, allowing a run on five hits and no walks over seven innings, with seven strikeouts. That may be what caught the Pirates’ attention, as they often stress summer ball performance. He signed with them as a non-drafted free agent right after the 2025 draft.
