Overview

Robertson put up very good numbers as a sophomore and junior at Creighton. He had an OPS of 1.053 and 1.007 with 15 and 12 home runs. He was regarded as having more power potential than he showed in college as his swing was better geared to hitting line drives. He’s shown the same tendencies as a pro; good but not great power, not hitting for high averages, decent patience and strikeout problems. He’s a corner outfielder and probably below average there, with below average speed and an average arm. The Pirates claimed Robertson shortly after the 2025 season off waivers from the White Sox.

2019-22

After signing, Robertson went to short season ball and hit fairly well, with a .769 OPS and good walk and K rates. He didn’t play during the pandemic season.

In 2021-22, Robertson had a couple of mediocre season. The Jays sent him to high A in 2021, although he missed over two months out of the middle of the season with an injury. When he played, he only had a .695 OPS and a BB:K ratio of 17:75. In 2022 he went to AA and again missed time with an injury, this time about a month. He put up a .691 OPS, although he had 12 home runs. His BB:K was much like the previous year, at 27:96.

2023-25

Robertson made some progress over the next two seasons. He went back to AA in 2023 and hit 245/323/488 with 19 home runs. His walk and K rates improved a little. In AAA in 2024 he hit 226/319/429 with another 19 home runs, but his K rate of 31% was concerning.

In 2025, Robertson had a big year in AAA, although by this time he was 27. His AAA time came with two different teams, as Toronto designated him for assignment in July and then sent him to the White Sox for cash. Altogether in AAA he hit 289/387/571 with 20 home runs in just 89 games. His K rate of 25% was better and he had a walk rate of 14%. Robertson spent time in the majors with both the Jays and White Sox. The Jays added him to their 40-man roster and called him up in June. He got into three games with them and, later, 24 games with Chicago. He was overmatched in the majors in 75 plate appearances, posting just a .316 OPS, one extra base hit (a double), and 27 strikeouts with only two walks. The White Sox dfa’d Robertson after the season and the Pirates claimed him off waivers.
