I made it down to Sarasota last Friday for the Pirates-Orioles FCL game and they gave out rosters for both teams. I noticed that recently released Jack Herman is listed as the Development Coach for the FCL Pirates.
Which is kind of funny, cause sitting right there with him is the preferred 1B of fans, Rhys Hoskins who also has a slower Avg. Bat Speed. He just makes more contact, and squares it up much more often.
Sure enough, Perachi just got sent back to Greensboro. Meanwhile, there are some guys getting torched at Altoona who are still there. Bullpen meltdowns have been the biggest factor in their struggles.
To some degree I kind of expected it. Altoona's draw is their starting pitching, not so much the bullpen that is a lot of the college arm draft fillers.
Which is unsettling since the Pirates under BC have been drafting college arm after college arm, seemingly to provide minor league bullpen depth. New names. Same meltdowns.
Great list, fellas.
Cherington was at Ashcrafts start. Sat right behind home plate. Added pressure didn't seem to affect him.

I just discovered this exists....

Rowdy Tellez has the 7th longest swing in the majors this year.
And it's rare when something interferes with that swing (i.e., baseballs)
Uncommonly rare.

Poll Question:
Who has more value to their team over the next month, Hoskins on the IL, or Tellez?
Hint…0.0 is higher than -0.5.
Josh Vanmeter currently more valuable to the Pirates than Rowdy, by not even being on the roster

Bullpens have been kinda turrable as a whole.
exactly opposite what I expected

Yea their usage of Perachi has been interesting, especially considering he's pitched a lot better of late.
I wonder if we could acquire THIS guy somehow to pitch when we need that ONE elusive out...
