Kind of strange it appears on the MLB Transactions page tonight without any type of announcement from the Pirates during the games this past weekend. And, exactly one month before the trade deadline
I mean theres only a few guys in the whole league that can hit the ball as hard as blanco did... stanton, judge, ohtani, cruz, de la cruz, and that might be it? Thats LEGIT power potential
He still whiffs too often and his current BA is driven by a high BABIP, if he can cut his K-rate.... We may have another Giancarlo Stanton in the minors.
And, Blanco, 19, is just one of the young Bucs in the FCL that comprise a group that could move upward quickly. Some others are Carlos Caro, 2B, 19; YDLS, SS/3B, 19; Richard Ramirez, C, 19; Jhonny Severino, 3B/SS, 19; Axial Plaz, 1B, 18 (Already promoted to BRD); and Pitchers Carlos Castillo, 18, Zander Mueth, 19, Carlos Mateo, 18, David Matoma, 18, and Inmer Lobo, 20.
"[Mcadoo] looked really good there [Thirdbase] so far and has shown his inexperience in the outfield when he has played there. With Ke’Bryan Hayes locked up long-term at third, you would think there would be more of an emphasis on getting McAdoo playing time elsewhere, but I guess we will see."
The Pirates can wait until McAdoo's promotion ro the ML to begin his transition to the OF. It's better late than never.
From the box scores it looks like Jebb has went back to his former approach with a bit more patience in the last 15 or 20 games. Very little pop but more hits and walks and less strikeouts. Haven't watched so it's a an assumption.
Yep your probably right, I just looked at monthly splits and combined the April and May to June.
April/May 160 ab 32 h 14 bb 46 k
June 79 ab 20 h 16 bb 19 k
Looking closer he was striking out a lot early in the year. He does appear to be drawing more walks lately, probably sss.
The big outlier is his May 1st game with 2 hr and double, 30% of all his extra base hits in one game. Could even take his last game in April to make it 40% in 2 games (1 hr).
I would be interested to know a list of anyone ever to hit those exit velo with a wood bat...That has to put raw power at 70+ then....just a matter of getting it more regularly into games...right?
Marco starting rehab. I was skeptical we’d see him again.

And he's a big dude at 280 plus

Would be such a huge boon to the system to have this whole group take off... or even a few of them

His K-rate has consistently hovered just under 20% since the beginning of May.
Chalk it up to the annual freakout over early-season stats.

There are years in MLB when no players get in the 120’s
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast?type=batter&year=2020&position=&team=&min=q&sort=exit_velocity_max&sortDir=desc
If the 121 or 120.5+ is accurate, that's an 80 on the exit velocity scale. I'd assume that's the same as the raw power scale.
