I know Tredaway was an underslot signing, but I just don’t understand how you can take a guy in the 10th & 13th (Fulgencio) round & then release them within a year. 45 & 24 games, respectively.

Outside of injury, It’s just odd decision making. Did they miss something in their evaluation or figure they weren’t developing quickly enough?

Barco and Harrington look like ML pitchers

I have high hopes for Johnson, but as I’ve commented before, I want him to lose the three true outcomes approach and make more contact. He should have enough power to still be effective with less of an all or nothing approach. I gather his defense is mediocre, so his bat is going to have to carry him.

Otherwise, they should get something out of Harrington and Barco. Looking forward to seeing the latter fully healthy and unleashed in 2024. Brannigan’s performance in the AFL was a good reality check on the meaning of his 2023 season. I see him topping out at AAA with some cups of coffee in the majors.

101 walks is good, but not the 120 strike outs to go along with it. I am pretty ecouraged about his power though. This is nothing like the scouting reports on him that said what a good contract hitter he is.

NMR has said it’s gotten so difficult to scout HS hitters and their hit tool. It feels like a guessing game. Some flail, some take time to get going, some hit the ground right away. Tough to say what we’ll have with TJ.

I will say, Johnson came from a small school in Georgia so I think he had a larger jump in competition than expected. Given that he hit almost 20 homer and walked 100 times, we may end up with a different player than the preliminarily advertisements. I’d be ok with that.
