My reference to Bart to make this somewhat relevant to this article is that if you extrapolate his RE24 performance from his 282 PAs to a full season of PAs (which clearly should be taken with many grains of salt), he'd be somewhere near the top 30.
I am an advocate for trading Henry Davis while he still has value. It is a risk that he breaks out elsewhere but my confidence in this regime is non existent.
I am not saying dump him for some lottery tickets or a crappy reliever. Identify a baseball trade (Priester for Yorke type) where the other teams needs a catcher and the Pirates get an outfielder who has promise but has not broken out in their system. (Maybe Beck or Veen in Colorado type guys.) Or a decent major league player who can start next year as an upgrade.
Davis has very little value right now, and Joey Bart posted a 1.3 fWAR in 2024 to the -0.7 fWAR that Davis posted in 2024. Bart has trade value.
Is Bart better than Jason Delay? Offensively, yes; defensively, no way. Bart's 1.3 fWAR was heavily weighted by his offense. Delay had a 1.1 fWAR in 2023 heavily weighted by his defense, and Delay is a Pitcher's Catcher, and the Pirates live with Pitching!
Bart has trade value, and we can fill in for his loss.
And btw, Camden Janik doesn’t K; like ever. Should be a nice change of pace.
I also like Jonathan Rivero a bit. Big bonus and toolsy(or supposed tools).
OT, though Bart comes out looking pretty good, but I found this article about Arraez and run expectancy interesting:

And as if we need to be reminded how good Reynolds is, he ranked 19th (and note the names on the list--the biggest stars of the game):

Classic misinformation campaign from the FanGraphs Exit Velo Cartel.

Nice piece, Murph!

He doesn't have any value now. If you want a comp for what he'd fetch, it's Joey Bart.

My point was that Davis has the same trade value now that Bart had when the Pirates got him for an obscure low-level MiL reliever.
Bart was out of options, no?
there are a lot of teams in search for a catcher
id like something high risk like Eury Perez
safe to assume, Skenes is going to request to catch on his offdays in 2026?
could still be Bubba at short too
