Kent Tekulve, a former Major League Baseball pitcher known for his sidearm delivery, was not known for having an exceptionally high velocity on his pitches. His fastball typically ranged in the mid-80s mph (miles per hour), which was considered average speed. Tekulve was more renowned for his control, movement, and ability to keep hitters off balance rather than overpowering them with speed. His unique delivery style contributed significantly to his success as a relief pitcher.
I never watched Teke pitch (too young), but to compare a player to a guy who pitched 35 plus years ago is a tough look. Solo has to add velocity to be a productive pitcher at the MLB level. He can’t locate well and walks a ton of batters. Plus, the deception is only good if the bases are empty.
Just seems like a lot has to go right for him to even be a middle relief guy at this point.
Apparently Folderman and Borucki are the two call ups. I never did think they’d call up Yorke or Cook.
I thought it had to be one extra hitter and one extra pitcher?
They were down a pitcher due to Cutch replacing Heller.
best thing we could do with this guy is turn him into Tekulve and make him a closer
He better get that velo up if that’s the case.
Teke threw over 100?
Oh, I didn’t realize it’s 1981. My bad.

Throwing the ball from where he does (see photo) is problematic for the shoulder. Time will tell.
