Maybe nothing is the answer but I do wonder what it says that Termarr runs honestly pretty poor whiff rates, takes a ton of pitches, *and* still managed to log a strikeout rate considerably below league average.
Lots of whiffs and lots of deep counts is usually a recipe for lots of Ks.
I don't have any concrete data that says one way or another, this is really just from recollection, but it does feel he adjusts well when there is two strikes. If I'm ever able to chase him down, it'll probably be something we talk about (two-strike approach).
Minor item: BA has a list of pitching prospects who added the most velocity in 2024. It includes Wilber Dotel and Luigi Hernandez, who added just over and under, respectively, 3 mph. Of course, neither got good results, so the radar gun isn't everything.
I wonder if Yean is being sent to the AFL as a try out to see if he is worth rostering at this juncture. Wouldn't make sense to send him otherwise given his pending milb free agency status.
Planchart is a weird case. He seems to be defensively sound, but, despite being a very large human being, he has almost no power. His first season in Bradenton he had exactly 0 extra base hits. (It was only half a year as he got demoted back to the complex league). That is the opposite of their other catching prospects at lower levels.
Good test for Termarr. My expectations are low.

Evidence of adjusting with two strikes?

Maybe evidence that the scouting reports on his hit tool weren’t totally off base?
I want to believe, brother.
That should be the BoD motto.

Nola dropped this in the comments at least once before I think, but where did Termarr's contact rates end up in high-A?
74% in zone contact rate
31.7% whiff rate
28.4% out of zone swing%
Thank you!
wish Brannigan could be there
Yea Brannigan was at the top of my list of players I wanted to go
Well done on the preview. Should be interesting due to a couple of big names and the sheer number of players
