When I read the headline to the article, my first thought that ping ponged in my brain was the GIF of Gary Oldham from the movie The Professional when he screamed, “EVERYONE!”
If Keller can bounce back to his pre all star form to Shim bouncing back after getting injured. Each level has bounce backs and very few build on top of's.
The Pirates supposedly believe Samaniego is a lot better than his traditional stats from 2023. Alvarez, otoh, hasn't hit much since his first couple months in AA, in 2022. The pitchers at that level just seemed to figure him out.
I’m not sure you can say a guy who’s never hit has “upside.” It’s like saying Malcom Nunez could be an Olympic sprinter if he starts running a lot faster.

Smith-Njigba bouncing back at the MLB level would be terrific.
Big fan of CSN. Really pulling for that guy.
Matt Gorski
Malcom Nunez
Yordany De los Santos
Quinn Priester
2022 versions of Priester, Gorski & Nunez would be pushing to make an impact in the MLB in the Pirates’ positions of need.
Also, how nice would it be if YDLS/Shalin Polanco could breakout in A ball this year? Seems like we haven’t had a Latam signing payoff in years
I am going to continue to monitor the Siani vs Head rivalry I made up in my cranium. Didn't want to use head twice in one sentence.
Too much use of the word head in one sentence could cause some serious dain bramage. :)
I have 3 that will have a lot of say on how well the Buccos play this season...
Ortiz, Ro, Quinn.
All 3 are former 50fv prospects. You’d think they’ll hit on one of them, if not it would be a failure to develop.
Now there's a list with no shortage of candidates.
Maybe it’s the crack development staff that needs to bounce back. Oh . . . wait . . . that’d be more of a bounce forward.
Ain't that the truth,
If Keller can bounce back to his pre all star form to Shim bouncing back after getting injured. Each level has bounce backs and very few build on top of's.
Let's start with 90% of the 2023 Altoona Curve roster.
The Pirates supposedly believe Samaniego is a lot better than his traditional stats from 2023. Alvarez, otoh, hasn't hit much since his first couple months in AA, in 2022. The pitchers at that level just seemed to figure him out.
Malone, Bishop, Shim and Solomon McGuire are my picks for meaningful bounce back
Malone and Shim need to stay healthy. Bishop and Maguire need to bounce forward, not back. Neither of them has ever done anything.
higher ceiling, those four dudes, than the guys mentioned in the article
I’m not sure you can say a guy who’s never hit has “upside.” It’s like saying Malcom Nunez could be an Olympic sprinter if he starts running a lot faster.
