Let’s hope they have a good draft this year, if not they better start handing out extension to any replacement level player since what’s behind is way worse.
If Bishop hasn't changed his swing, he better go to the Brett Butler school for bunting and slap hitting.
If Forrester can catch he might have a chance but I just don't see his power developing with his passive approach.
This team is going to have to have good pitching and great plate discipline to win. Outside of Alonzo and Polanco and a couple of others there doesn't seem to be a lot of upside on the hitting side.
If any club thought Braylon could hit a lick he wouldn't have plummeted from a lofty top 10 pick early in HS to where he ultimately landed in the draft.
He has a major hitch in his swing. He starts with his hands around his chest brings them back on his load but slows down or stops his swing back at his chest. He swings all arms with no momentum unless he changed it this year. His in zone contact rates aren't horrible and his chase rate isn't horrible either. He can't generate any power and he's to passive in the zone. In my opinion.
No doubt the swing could be cleaned up but kids with mechanical problems are dime a dozen at the lower levels and yet real hitters don't take three years to get off the complex.
I'm not disagreeing with that at all. More on the development side, he has had the same hitch since he was drafted through last year. It's just a shame a kid with so much potential lacks in the most important area, when it appears that he at least can see the pitch and make some contact albeit weak.

The guy they got for Selby made his Pirate debut today. Six runs in 1.1 IP.
Early returns on this team's hitting are incredibly bad. This team is a product of BC's scouting and development now, and the early grade is F---.

Rarely can you teach a hit tool.

Baseball's hard!

And yes baseball is hard.

May be a while in any event. Bishop just hurt his knee about two minutes ago. Looked kinda bad.
That sucks for the kid, has all the tools except the ability to hit and I think it's more mechanical than anything else with his swing.
