Melkel: Thanks, man. That was fab. Sounds to me like it's a fixable thing where he was tipping according to Trevor May. Loved his video rundown of it too. He suspects that batters were reading his hand positions. Crazy.
Loved how May said that Bednar has better stuff than he EVER had.
Interesting note about the tunneling and the lat (?) strain too.
I am interested to talk about what was the difference for David Bednar this season. Would love to see some kind of breakdown article that goes into what was behind his struggles. If you've already done this while I was trying to pay up for like two months, someone clue me.
Anyway. The guy had the velo, but he was getting whacked around pretty good on more than a couple occasions. He seemed to have a pretty long leash, too.
I know part of it was that he had zero spring training and then scuffled early... But then you'd think he'd have found his groove and rode it out.... But nah.
Very interested in the composition of the rotation and bullpen this year.

I’m definitely a member of the Mlod squad. I think he’s primary 7th inning RP in close games to start season. I’m guessing he is the Club’s Closer in ‘26 after showing he’s got the ability to do it successfully a handful of times next season.
The 2020 Draft was an unqualified success with 3 of the 6 making the Majors in less than 4 years, and a 4th that was used as trade to get Connor Joe a few years ago. My two favorites are Jared Jones and Carmen Mlodzinski - Jones with 22 starts this year and Muj being a sort of Pitching Utility Player. Quality and versatility!

One of the reasons I'd rather extend him 2 or 3 years at a hometown discount. I think he'll bounce back and be effective if not dominant.
Oy.

His curve wasn't sharp like it was and tipping pitches.
Link posted to Trevor May going over it below.
