Overview

The Pirates selected Rembert as a draft-eligible sophomore in the second round in 2026. He’s a second-base-only defender and is fringy there defensively. He has an average arm and above average speed. Rembert’s selling tool is contact ability, which is very strong. Rembert had a big freshman year, batting 344/467/555 with ten home runs and more walks than Ks. As a sophomore, he fell off to 343/399/459 with four home runs, and his walk rate was half the previous year. It’s possible an ankle injury at the beginning of the season played a role, but there are doubts about his ability to hit for power as he tends to hit the ball the other way a lot. He’ll have a tough profile if he doesn’t hit for power, due to his defensive limitations. As a sophomore, Rembert signed for well over the slot of $1,938,100.
