Ryan Forcucci is Tom Harrington 2.0. He’s from a Mid Major, with 4-5 pitches, about the same size(starter build), athletic, plus control, good FB that plays up.

Too bad UC San Diego still can’t participate in post season play cause they moved to the Big West conference.

Pirates should grab him with their comp pick or in the 2nd round. I would be ok with either.

I realize they can't look to college baseball to draft a competent GM but I don't know, maybe a manager.

Ok Wilbur, who showed up to camp in “the best shape of their life” this year? Enquiring minds want to know.

Excluding Wilbur?

Well played Southern Buc!

OK - since we know that BC has a thing for kids who have done well in the Cape Cod League, and he also likes multi-positional options so why not Cole Mathis, a RH hitter with contact and power, plays 1B and was a two way player for College of Charleston and in Cape Cod as a RH Reliever with mid to upper 90's FB and two other pitches - a Curve and a Changeup. Finished second in HR's in Cape league in 2023, and plus attitude and work ethic.

Time to start to consider talking to some teams with solid CF's who may be interested in something the Pirates have already and/or our A Round Competitive Balance Pick. The Pirates have taken tickets to ride on CF's Swaggerty, Gorski, Head, Scott, and a few others, but Jase Bowen could turn out to be the best of the group. We have some younger CF's who are at least 2 years away, and we cannot be competitive without a solid CF. Houston and Colorado have some VG/Exc CF's and the Yankees and Red Sox have some decent Prospect CF's like Everson Pereira (NYY) and Ceddanne Rafaela (Bos).

I like Cole Mathis but would absolutely hate him being drafted by the pirates. His power is to left center and PNC would zap it. After round 4 or 5 maybe.

In the CC League where there were a lot of highly rated hitters he finished with 10 doubles (5th), 11 HR (2nd), 42 RBI (2nd), and an OPS of 1.048 (4th). Then he pitched 20 innings in relief with a 5.31 ERA, 10.2/2.2 K/BB/9. We have the First Round pick and the CB A pick, and then possibly 2nd Round (45-50) would be my hope.

I like him, just like other players more that should be available in our first 4 picks. For example here's guy's I like of just college hitters with 1st base experience

1) Kurtz, Jac, Condon or White one is bound to be there at 9

1c) Ethan Anderson C/1st

2) Jared Thomas OF/1st

3) Blake Burke 1st/DH

Again not saying you're wrong, just some other guys I currently like.

Tommy Tanks for bust

How bour Honeycutt if he'd fall to 9? Stellar CF D with good speed and some pop

Expand full comment

If he hits he'll be gone before 9, if he doesn't hit he might be available with the comp pick.

They can pass on him, and get their future monster 1B next year: Zach Yorke

Expand full comment

Does he have as much xSWAG?

Expand full comment

He's like Nico Kavadas with a hit tool. Great center or a nose tackle.

The lers need one of those, two sport star?

Expand full comment

I was just kiddin' DH or 1st.

Expand full comment

Well if he was at 1B he could just snarl at the batter coming down the line and scare him away fro the bag until he can come up with the ball and step on the bag for the out 😁

If he could catch, we could have him play C for both teams

6'2" and 295 lbs of it!!!!!

I would refer to him as Moto Moto

Whats the facial hair situation? Need a second star next to Paul

Or** typing is hard

The Pirates need to be focused on potential high impact power hitters.

Look at the top prospects, almost all pitchers. Only Termarr Johnson and maybe Lonnie White jr. project as potential impact bats. Mitch Jebb is a slap hitter.

Hitters, hitters, hitters to stock the system.

Wyatt Langf...oh nevermind.

I’m always mystified that a guy with those kind of tools is a complete butcher in the outfield.

If there's any manner that one can develop defensive skill in the same way as offense, I'm always bullish on these types for that exact reason.

Hit that mfr fungos until he's got blisters on his feet and learns to run routes!

Hitting a baseball is the absolute hardest thing to do. Kid, if you can do that, you can be a passable OF. Thing is, if he turns into a good OF, he may not have to play center there either.

Blake Burke after round 2 somewhere.

Definite River shot and then some at PNC 😁

Braden Montgomery!!!!!!!!

Expand full comment

Starting to like Mike Sirota a little better but also thinks he’s gone when the Pirates draft

Expand full comment

I want to watch him more, but he's very intriguing.

Expand full comment

Biggest thing is he can stick in CF. Like Montgomery, but I’ll take the CF over corner guy

Expand full comment

Seaver King?

Expand full comment

I saw he was mocked to the Pirates on Just Baseball. Nola and I were talking about it. We like the pick. If he adjusts well to D1, and is around, I’d be ok with it

Expand full comment

I'm for Montgomery unless Kurtz, Jac or JJ drops to us or someone else really breaks out.

Expand full comment

I’m leery of Jacglione’s (yep I combined the names) approach.

Expand full comment

Yep, high ceiling low floor.

Expand full comment

Jac is in a weird place. He’s probably not worth a top 10 pick right as either a hitter or pitcher so idk if I’m taking him even if he falls. But also if he improves drastically at either, he’s long gone before the Pirates pick

Expand full comment

I think it'll come down to his plate discipline. He appears to have a good hit tool, just swings at everything. If he lowers his strikeouts and increases his walks he won't make it to us. You're spot on!

Expand full comment

All it takes is one team to get enamored with a kid or make a pool saving pick to throw the draft in a whirlwind

Expand full comment

Yep, even a couple pitchers could jump up with better control or an uptick in stuff with a guy like Hartle.

Really hope they go after Anderson in the comp round or 2nd round.

Expand full comment

Or in command. Brecht’s stuff sounds hellacious. If he shows decent command…

Expand full comment

Yeah, he throws his slider more than his fastball but really doesn't have command of either.

Expand full comment

I think if Chase Burns sticks in the rotation all year and doesn’t completely bomb out, he’s a top 5 pick.

Expand full comment

If Hartle adds a tick or two, he might jump in that range. Wake has a crazy good team.
