Reading Alex Stump’s article on MLB.com about Chandler. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear Bubba will be up as soon as many of us, including me, want. BC probably doesn’t want to risk him pitching well enough for long enough to finish in top 2 for NL ROY voting.
This is what I hate about this organization. There is always something else to be concerned with other than winning. How about we actually go all in on fielding the best team we can at all points of the season.
Birdbrain's main concern right now will be not looking stupid by removing Falter or Mlod from the rotation. That's always his top priority, so he'll invent reasons not to call Bubba up.
Good to see Dauri Moreta on a rehab assignment at Bradenton. Came over from Cincy and became a solid contributor to the Pirate BP in 2023 (58 IP, 24 BB/76 K, .187 Avg). The 95+ FB was about what he was throwing in 2023 before losing all of 2024 to TJ, but his money pitch was the Slider. Also looking good at BRD was 20 year old Adolfo Oviedo, 2 IP, 0 H, 2K, 3 GB.
Garrett McMillan at A+ continues to impress as a LHSP. Was a RP at BRD in 2024, but was switched to a SP at A+ to end 2024. In 5 Starts at GBO in 2025 - 25.1 IP, 3-0, 1.42 ERA. A college draftee, he is in his age 24 season so it may not be surprising to see him promoted to AA if he continues on this pace.
Moreta's sudden success with the Pirates was interesting. All that really happened is that he started throwing a lot more sliders and a lot fewer FBs. Considering that he throws a weird slider that breaks the "wrong" way (Whatever happened to the screwball anyway?), that seemed like a pretty logical thing to try with a short reliever. Hitters don't see that pitch anywhere else.
The future is now for these young players.
Sometimes you get lucky...
Sometimes you trade 2 months of Javier Baez and Trevor Williams for PCA.
PCA is currently the 3rd best player in baseball with 2.0 fWAR.

BC trying to live up to his Ivy League degree. His actions end up being too esoteric.

As to your conclusion, you may be making the mistake of taking Cherington's and Shelton's words at face value :)

McMillan is RH.
