Overview
Doroteo signed with the White Sox at almost age 20. He’s a tall, thin righty who throws hard, about 96-97 mph. He also throws a cutter and change. So far, he misses a lot of bats and doesn’t allow much hard contact. His control isn’t good, but it’s better than a lot of pitchers at the lower level. The Pirates acquired him for Jose Urquidy after they designated Urquidy for assignment.
2025-26
The White Sox assigned Doroteo to the DSL in 2025, but he was hurt and didn’t pitch. They sent him to the Arizona Complex League in 2026 and he had a 4.50 ERA in 16 games, all but one in relief. He struck out 12 per nine innings while walking 5.5.
