Fun exercise -- dividing up 162 starts. This isn't a prediction, more like something you could end up with once or twice if you ran the 2024 season 100 times.
I see that KC is following last year’s formula, sign a previously successful lefty reliever, hope to turn him into a much needed mid season trade. They did very well in the Chapman trade last July!
I'd give Ortiz the best odds. Weren't there reports that his conditioning going into last season was lacking? If so, I'm betting that he learned a lesson and will make much better use of this offseason and come to camp ready to thrive.
The odds would and should reflect uninjured pitchers who saw MLB action last year, but am I the only fan who thinks this is the least amount of information being made available by the ballclub to the fans. You guys are trying to keep the fans involved, but is it asking too much for the Pirates Management to keep the fans updated on which stage of rehab guys like BRU, Kranick, and Burrows are at right now, and what their throwing schedules may look like in Jan, Feb, and Mar 2024?
Thinking they really won’t know much about those guys until they have their off season voluntary workouts coming up in January. They will have a better idea of when they can start ramping up the simulated games and if the will see any spring training action at all. Still would be just a wild guess right now in my opinion.
The secrecy of this FO seems to border on paranoia, and paranoia can keep one from taking bold action. I.e., for me the secrecy goes beyond being annoying (which it definitely is) to making me question their overall leadership ability.
I understand that there will be times when they can't divulge how a prospect is doing (e.g., there is still, unfortunately, stigma attached to mental health issues like anxiety and depression), but to never share anything with the fans is insulting.
Worse than that. It makes trades difficult. Trades are built on some level of mutual trust, and if a team is constantly hiding how healthy its players are, it should give other teams pause in making any trades with that team.
I really don’t think a lot of teams are really transparent all the time when it comes to prospects and injuries. Teams will divulge only what they have to by league rules.

has priester gone to driveline or tread yet??
What are the odds that we will get these arms back to a fairly well stocked and rolling pitching staff rather than a too little too late situation
Did Rachel Phelps just buy Cleveland again? They just gave Austin Hedges. $4 million contract…..
That's "World Series champion" Austin Hedges.
That's "third string on a major league team" Austin Hedges.
Jimenez has had 3 outings in the Austrailian winter league. One inning a piece.
Howd they go?
According to BR, he's struck out 3 and has only allowed 1 hit but has also walked 3 and hit a batter in 3.2 innings.
Thank you!

Scott Randall makes my unofficial 'Two first Names List' lol.
Fineas Del Bonta-Smith has made all such lists futile.
If you had to place a bet, who would you bank on making the most major league starts in 2024 from this group? Roansy, Ortiz, Priester, or Burrows.
The betting odds:
Priester - 3-1
Roansy - 3-1
Ortiz - 4-1
Burrows - 20-1
Half tempted to take that line and get a big payoff when Burrows is the only one to get 10+ starts, but I’m too much of an optimist to do it!

It seemed like we got better updates under Huntington.
Imma steal this for a mailbag question next week lol
Veteran move here AM well done
If it ends up being Burrows, we should refer to the 2024 Pittsburgh Pirates as “A Wasteland of Pitching Prospects” 😂
Roansy
Priester
Yes.
