Gameday 102: Pirates look to ride momentum from shutout victory over Detroit
Mitch Keller vs Casey Mize
The Pittsburgh Pirates hit hard and early before hanging on for a win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Paul Skenes tossed six shutout innings, striking out six in earning his fifth win of the season and the first since May 28.
Braxton Ashcraft, Dennis Santana, and David Bednar pitched the final three innings to close out the win.
Bryan Reynolds hit a two-run single in the second, two of the three runs scored that frame, which was the only bit of offense they needed.
Spencer Horwitz went 3-4 with an RBI out of the leadoff spot.
Mitch Keller is scheduled to get the start for the Pirates and will face former first overall pick Casey Mize for the Tigers.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm ET.
