Going out on a positive note tonight- Both Cards and Brewers lost tonight so at least there is that! Night Y’all

And they face a guy tomorrow in Pfaadt who has basically been untouchable lately including an ERA around 2.00 for the last month. Could be a tough series

I guess that was "bad" Ortiz?

Expand full comment

If that was "bad" Ortiz, we should count our blessings. MOAR Ortizes!

That one hurts

Ben's been crossing his fingers for a slide in the standings so he won't have to take any risks! Here it begins. Lower it.

Shocked they kept Bae on the bench when the one thing he can probably do is steal a base late.

You act as if Shelton watches the games

Hell of a throw by Bart. Didn't think he had a chance at that.

This game illustrates what I indicated before. They need to get a bat NOW, not on July 31. You can lose important games up to July 30 that would determine the wild card. It's amazing that they run out Connor Joe, Jack Suwinski, and Michael Taylor as an offense. GM Cherington said that he could not handle some acquisitions because of finances. Go Nutting! Worst owner in professional sports.

Wasting a Ke'Bryan line drive oppo hit should be heavy kangaroo court fine.

Like the fine you get for driving some forsaken stretch of nowhere highway in Wyoming. It's so rare an occasion you get pulled over and they need the funding so they're gonna get you!

Jack has to crush mistakes, not foul 'em off.

Expand full comment

Yep that was in his wheel house and Should have been crushed.

Hard to believe, but if Tellez is down for any length of time that creates another gaping hole in the lineup that Cherington will be unwilling and unable to fill.

What do you think the Pirates could get for Chapman? Good Chapman is electric. And realistically this is his only season with the Pirates. Without being able to suggest any specific players, I would be willing to trade him for a major league ready outfielder or first baseman —- maybe someone blocked in a loaded system. No complex league flyers, though. The Pirates have enough of those for now.

BTW, in his chat today Jason Mackey said that he would not trade Bednar to the Orioles straight up for Coby Mayo, which is flat out insane to me.

How do some guys get paid to write about professional sports when they lack the analytical skills needed to practice their craft? I'd trade Keller and Bednar for Mayo! This is a low run era. Good hitters are the premium talent. The Pirates lack hitters. The Pirates need hitters.

I would trade Bednar twice, Harrington and Holderman for Mayo. Mackey is an homer of ill repute if that was his take and should be never read again.

Mackey thought it was great when Ben signed VanMeter, Marisnick and Knapp. His credibility is . . . . . suspect.

Expand full comment

Yeah Keller for Mayo would make a good deal of sense honestly. Mackey is wacky.

P.S. Mayo has a career OPS over .900 and is slugging .595 in the International League this year at the age of 22.

Yeah it'd be awesome to pair a monster offensive 22 year old with Skenes

Been a _while_ since I've personally seen a good AB from Cutch. Sure I could have missed one or two but...

Expand full comment

Cutch's worst attribute is jumping on 1st or 2nd pitches and hitting 'em right to 3b. He did that when he used to slump first go around with Pirates. It puzzles me why, after 15 years, he hasn't learned how to not do that.

But when he doesn't do that, he's still got a great eye and can extend an AB.

And yes, you've apparently missed a bunch of those PAs.
