Looking at the work of Quinn Priester and wondering how long the Pirates will let him go in 2023 - he is already over 100 IP, which is more than he has pitched in prior years. Hopefully we have an exit strategy for him that will allow a gradual reduction of usage, possibly back at AAA. Bring up Jared Jones and possibly even more time from Luis Ortiz. Another possibility is Cam Alldred.
I'd imagine Ortiz will get another shot. Roansy will come back up at some point too. Not sure there is too much rush to get Jared Jones on the 40 man, but I guess it is a possibility.
Somebody should have thunk it out a little longer before offering an extension as the Manager. His decision-making in game speed leaves much to be desired. We need that guy who is always 2 moves ahead, and that is not DS.
However, sometimes the answer is to promote. BC could probably use a a guy like Shelton as an Assistant GM. No doubt he has had a varied career in coaching, and that could be a very valuable asset in a situation at that level when looking to add a significant piece to the lineup. He has smarts that can be an asset at another level.
I'm wondering how far the Pirates will drop by the end of the year. Unless they updated it again, I saw they were in the top spot. That still includes Davis, who is almost off of the list, then others are going to drop off one-by-one as we keep going. Could have at least nine players graduating, depending on what they do the rest of the way with playing time for the infielders
Very possible. Then it would just be where do the Pirates end up going into 2024 instead. Unless they actually pick up some decent prospects at the deadline, then they are headed for a steep drop. Endy and Davis alone will drop they quite a bit in value for FG
I was lucky enough to be there to see it. He really drilled it to left-center. I came away impressed overall with him, very athletic. It will be interesting to watch him and Yordy progress together through the system.
If the Rangers call and actually offer Langford for Bednar, yes, absolutely you take that. Langford is a potential 30 home run hitter. Take the fact he's from Pittsburgh out the equation. Closers are tricky, especially the closer they get to 30.
Completely agree. Pitchers, regardless of who they are or where they’re from, simply do not have the value that a hitter like Langford offers. I doubt they’re likely to call with that specific offer but if they called I wouldn’t settle for less. The Rangers are clearly trying to win this year and Langford’s not in those plans but Bednar would be so who knows.
Don't get me wrong, I thought Skenes was fine at 1.1, just if all things are close, give me the everyday impact bats over the pitching. Pirates would of needed to have Skenes WAY ahead of everyone for me to truly buy in.

Any idea what roansy is up to these days?
Holderman Good Morning - Good Afternoon - Good Night!!!
Shelton developing a consistent habit of leaving the starter in too long. He really may be the worst Pirate manager of my lifetime.
I thought you’d decided that a long time ago.
The evidence just keeps piling up.

BOOM!!!! Go the kids!!
Jebb probably won't (or shouldn't) stay in Bradenton long
Sightler-Termarr-Brannigan-Jebb sounds like a fun infield to watch in Greensboro when I head there
All the bombs, and Jebb hits
OMG we have a catcher. Our long Dredgian nightmare is over.
And a RF with a cannon
Cruz? lol
He's future CF with a cannon
This is my dream tbh
No one is running on that outfield
Not sure which team will top the Fangraphs prospect list post-trade deadline but it won’t be the Rangers

I think the updates are frozen after the trading deadline

Feels like we will be probably at the edge of our out of, the top 10 for most lists by the end of the year
Damn. They sending $22.5M too?
"paying it down to $22.5M". Whatever that is.
Also has a player option for next year that i believe hes opting into? More than our entire payroll exchange teams there lol
Lonnie long ball was majestic
Bubba’s cooking again
Makes me even more excited to head to Greensboro towards end of the season.
Looks like maybe Ortiz is, too.
Well, speaking of bad fastballs. Quinn rolling till he leaves his FF over heart of the plate two batters in a row.
Use to say it was a matter of 'if' they hit the fastball, looking more like 'when' they do
Worked for a few innings...
Low A from today

Severino 2 run hr 💥

Bradenton infield gonna be stacked next year, at least to start the season.
Just watching his ABs, Yordany is figuring it out pretty quickly. Don't count him out for GBO to open next year.
He has improved quickly. A Termarr/YDLS middle infield at that park would be super exciting to watch
Won the trade
We can all go home. Start building the Cherington statue.
I'd say that's a good way to start things off for him
Have seen videos of Max Clark hitting a triple and Wyatt Langford mash a ball 110 off the bat down the line for a double today already.
Rangers apparently need a closer. Would you be willing to trade Bednar for Langford?

Well damn. No buyers remorse when skenes closes out CGSO in game 7 for us :)
what makes you think the Pirates are losing three games to get it to game seven?

Certainly pitched well enough to win yesterday, just couldnt get the big hit
Definitely need some of those bats to come through tonight
