Gameday 107: Pirates look to build on come from behind win against Astros
Chance to clinch series on Tuesday
It seemed like Paul Skenes was on his way to his second straight loss, but the offense rallied late for a come-from-behind victory over the Houston Astros.
Michael A. Taylor hit a clutch three-run home run in the top of the ninth to give the Pirates a 5-2 lead. What makes that interesting is that Taylor was initially not in the lineup but entered the game after Joshua Palacios left due to an injury.
The Pirates also saw Ji Hwan Bae leave the game early after awkwardly coming down on his knee when trying to avoid a tag at first base.
Skened allowed two runs (one earned) across six innings, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out six.
Carmen Mlodzinski and Aroldis Chapman pitched shutout innings before David Bednar closed things out with his 19th save.
Bailey Falter is expected to come off the injured list today and pitch for the Pirates, while Hunter Brown is scheduled to pitch for the Astros.
First pitch is expected at 8:10 pm ET.
