Gameday 108: Pirates go for sweep against the Astros on the road
Jake Woodford make Pirates' debut
Michael A. Taylor hit a home run for the second consecutive day as the Pirates clinched a big series on the road in Houston. Bailey Falter returned off the injured list and picked up the win, pitching 5.1 innings of two-run (one earned) baseball while the bullpen came in behind and shut the door.
The Pirates now have an opportunity to pick up a series sweep, with Jake Woodford making his debut for the Pirates.
He’s made two starts for the Chicago White Sox but has pitched well in Triple-A since signing with the Pirates.
He’ll oppose Framber Valdez, the 30-year-old left-handed pitcher for the Astros. Valdez is making his 19th start of the season and looking for his 10th win.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 pm ET.
