Why does it seem like every one of the young Milwaukee hitters (Wiemer, Frelick, Turang, all seem waaaaay better than our young guys. Not to mention I think Milwaukee has a couple top 10 prospects in all of baseball. They have been competitive for several years and now appear to be ahead of us again for competitiveness going forward
Short answer Craig Counsell/Derek Shelton. The pirates have a promising group of young players who are being crippled by horrible, horrible, horribl leadership and mismanagement.
The Brewers are going up swinging while the Pirates have a “just stand there and watch” approach at the plate. Haines must have developed that technique all on his own after years of watching his grass grow for entertainment. Management must change if the Pirates are ever going to win.
Keller giving up hard contact- Davis giving away outs in RF- even the Rivas dive deflection is an easy out if he leaves it for Peggy. Add in the Houser is getting 2 inches off the plate on either side and you get the feeling it’s going to be a tough night
Keller not looking good but what kind of defense do you call this? Hayes and Peguero both dropping a double play ball in the first leading to two runs, Rivas doing a face plant and Davis having no idea at all how to play a fly ball. These guys are not good enough offensively to play defense like that.
I'm confident Davis will learn RF. I'm wondering if they should entertain giving him 3b reps over the winter/ST in addition to catching reps. Would hate wasting him as a DH with that gun. And Cutch is not the problem.
Going with everyone else and say as expected. I was surprised when he was called up. You like to see more at AAA before calling someone up, or just having the same numbers over a longer time. He had his moments for the Pirates
As expected. Had a few exciting moments. Not what I hoped for when they drafted him. Actually I don't really know what I hoped for when they drafted him.
He's definitely on a hot streak, hopefully it's a real breakout with the bat. If he has a legit hit tool, he jumps to the top with Johnson of our position players.
So, the FSL and FCL teams are overloaded with catchers, and Altoona and Greensboro both have infielders catching right now. Why not just promote some guys?
The little thing that kills me is when they play Pirates vs Pirates in the DSL and only play seven innings. They already cut the schedule down 16 games, why are you throwing away even more time? They swear by Camp Days though...
At this point in the season, Pirates hitters have had roughly 4000 PAs
I was out most of the night. Keller is looking like old Keller.
Why can't the Brewers still be in the AL? Or not NL Central.

Alright well thats enough for tonight
Shit ton of hard hit balls in todays game, sounds like have been both hurting ourselves and also have had some bad luck with batted ball results

The solution is DH, but the team insists in carrying Cutch. I’m ready for the hate....

WTF has happened to Keller? First Roansy, then Ortiz now Keller.
Exposure to the veteran presences seems to have had the opposite effect from what was advertised.
Will the real mitch keller please stand up? Cause i dont like the guy thats been in there the last few weeks
Suwinski and Davis’ approach in RBI situation are a little to passive for my liking.
Better worse, or as expected for Nicky's first cuppa coffee? Discuss.

As expected, should flip him before his value falls any further
I'd vote as expected. I'd love to see him rake at AAA and force his way back. Hopefully he takes this as a challenge.
As expected.
Lonnie White takes a 3-1 pitch, starts toward first, ump belatedly calls a strike. White goes back, next pitch, BOOM!
Now a double. Everything White hits, he hits hard.

I don’t get that. Hendrie is obviously hurt and they sent another catcher to Bradenton lol. Bradenton has 4 with Bins there, FCL has like 5 right?
This FO steadfastly maintains that game action is irrelevant to development. Every shred of evidence I’ve seen says otherwise.

Yea I think the fact that Braylon Bishop has shown no signs of development so far is a living testament to that
Bishop hasn’t actually played that much, just 275 PAs spread over 3 years.
