A's have DFAed Ramon Laureano. The Pirates have a chance here to pick up a real player off the waiver wire, which would be an upgrade over any 4th OF option in Pittsburgh (except Cutch). There is absolutely no reason not to claim Laureano. He might put some fire into team... veteranosity (or roid rage... whichever). He is arb 3 next year, but the Pirates could probably work out a 1 year extension with him for a reasonable amount... say 4-5 million. Let's see if Cherington picks up a 2 WAR OF for virtually nothing.
He's better than Joe or anyone at AAA, and he's cheap. Also keep in mind that he plays in Oakland. The Colosseum is an OPS killer. His defensive skills, both range and arm, are elite for a corner OF, and he would be better in Center than either Suwinski or Reynolds (which makes him the perfect 4th OF). Finally, he was persona non gratis in Oakland after his PED suspension. Some of his falloff may be a result of not using PEDs, but some of it is likely just general discontent. He is a passionate player and can't stand losing. Might be nice to have someone who is not happy-go-lucky all the time around.
If it hasn't happened the past two years, it's not going to happen. Either they don't think his swing is broken, or they think he can change mid-season.
That's cool. I've seen nine teams at home and I've been to eight current stadiums. I'm sure that second number will go down, as I have no plans to go to any games any time soon. I watch a guy on YouTube who is going to see his team at all 30 stadiums, with plans to finish it next year. He's up to 16 stadiums now. I see some of the prices he shares in his video and think how expensive those trips would be for total cost, so I've ruled out going to any games for now. I'm good following his adventure instead :)
Understood. Been a 15-20 year journey but we love baseball so it's not hard to convince the wife to do a trip or two a year (shes at 20 parks). Hit a few when we can of regionally convenient. Parlay it with family outings, vacations, concerts or just any excuse we can find. Has been a great journey and I plan to keep it up with minor league parks as well. If I'm close and there's baseball I'm in.
They have been fairly good here, but a Saturday night game isn't going to get the traffic of almost any other day. People go out more on Saturdays. From years of experience with tracking game threads, I know it's the low traffic night of the week.
Falter looks decent, has an idea of what he's doing.....but does look hittable. Just another once thru the order guy? I mean we need a shutout tonite to beat Burnes.
The "swing hard and hope for the best" school is one of the most popular schools in baseball. Everyone who can't recognize breaking balls should play winter ball in Mexico. That's all they will see there.
why is Delay catching instead of Tank???

I dont know if adding a guy thats ops under .700 the last few years is worth adding tbh

He has not been good since his PED suspension
I don't like walking bases loaded with pretty much any of our relievers. Control isn't a strong point.
I think with contreras vs perkins there it was a worthwhile play, unfortunately didnt work out tonight
Thought Palacio's throw got there in time. Dammit.
Hayes might need to be optioned, maybe sent to the complex to work on his swing.

That was not nice of Cousin Elvis to take out Liover on a 3 pitch SO
That second pitch was a good take, but chasing the slider…
And where can we get our refund for Hayes?
My 30th stadium. Go bucs!
I've been to 12 stadiums, but the last new one was Citi Field in 2010. Did a lot in the 2000s over a short time. Are your 30 the current 30?
Every team at home. Haven't hit new braves or rangers

I think my next baseball venture will be Field of Dreams. That seems like something I need to do
I swear they take more fastballs in the zone than any team I’ve seen
How have the game threads been here? Not much tonite.

Findable.
Using jackson here sure is a choice
First time seeing Jackson. It's like Oscar Gamble and Charlie Blackmon had a baby.
You left out Sean Manea.
Oooh this is a good one lol
I take it back, he delivered
He pounded the zone! And then gets the chase. Ok good debut for both guys!
Timely hit here would be really nice
WOOP WOOP

5 strong is a win in my book, though definitely knocking on all the wood i can find and crossing my fingers
I like Shelton pulling him (although would have ended him after 4).
Rodolfo Nolasco still swings like he's never seen a breaking ball before

Dont judge, maybe he hasnt! Lol
SSS, but Rivas seems to do well vs Burnes. .444 BA, 1.000 OPS in 9 PAs.
