Gameday 113: Pirates look to rebound after disappointing loss to Padres
Marco Gonzales to pitch for the Pirates
It was overall ugly for the Pirates on Tuesday, losing 6-0 while getting outhit by nearly three to one. Four different hitters struck out multiple times, including three by Bryan Reynolds.
The game was delayed due to rain, and then even further after, there was an issue draining the field. Things didn’t start back up completely until 9:40 pm ET and didn’t finish until a little after midnight.
Due to the rain, the bullpen had to pitch seven of the nine innings, a less-than-ideal start to the first of nine straight games.
Marco Gonzales will pitch for the Pirates, who will make his fourth start since returning from the injured list. He allowed four earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
The Padres will send Michael King to the mound. He is looking for his 10th win of the season. In his last start, on July 27, against the Baltimore Orioles, he struck out nine batters in 6.1 innings.
