Gameday 114: Pirates look to avoid sweep against the Padres
Pirates blew a late lead, losing in extra innings on Wednesday
The Pittsburgh Pirates blew multiple leads before losing in extra-innings 9-8 to the San Diego Padres.
They now look to avoid a sweep and avoid falling to two games under .500. Andrew McCutchen drove in three runs in the losing effort, including his 14th home run of the season.
David Bednar blew a save in the ninth, and Colin Holderman allowed three runs in the 10th inning.
They did make things interesting in the bottom of the 10th but ultimately stranded the winning run on second base.
Luis Ortiz will pitch the series finale. He has allowed nine earned runs in his last two starts (10.1 IP). After the game, the Pirates will head on the road for six games against the Dodgers and Padres.

Good thing Shelton didn't waste Bart yesterday. Then he wouldn't have been available today . . . or something.
