I know we can't always trust some stadium velo readings, but Harrington has been weird because he's all over the place. Harrisburg had him 95/96 at one point, but doesn't seem like he's come close to that since
I remember that, the game he went up against Jobe he barely broke 90mph on a couple pitches. From their gun.
He really didn't use his fastball much tonight, just glad it was sitting a couple ticks higher than his last few starts. It appeared to have more life at least tonight. Getting through 7 innings on 63 pitches is awesome.
I’ll concede tomorrow’s game in my calculations, but I look ahead to the next 10. 3 at Texas and home against Reds and Cubs. Could we get hot and go 7-3, or 8-2 and get back to .500 or just shy of it? Giddy from 2 wins is making me dream that we could still force the issue and get back to some kind of competitive place for the year. All 4 NL Central teams are bunched together with the Cards faltering almost as badly as us.
They're 12 games out of the NL Central lead. It's not happening. It's going to be the Brewers again for the same reason it always is -- they're the only NL Central team with even half a philosophy for building their team.
Even in the Wild Card race, it would be a pure accident for the Pirates to be in it at the end. My math at the trade deadline -- presuming the best-case scenario through Aug and Sept -- was that they needed to add three more WAR for the rest of the season than they did. Basically, they would've needed like a Juan Soto trade to even be there for the WC at the end of the season.
.500 might be doable. Competitive is not. The Pirates are just too much to the wrong side of competitive. They can't win 8-7 games against good teams, as we saw repeatedly demonstrated the last couple of weeks.
All that said, it's still better than a few years ago when they couldn't win 2-1 games against trash teams.
Do they let Harrington go for the complete game or does Borucki get his scheduled work?
Left hander getting loose.
Harrington sitting around 93mph with his fastball in the 1st. Cook legged out an infield hit.
Harrington 12 up 12 down so far.
Damn, thru 5 . . . uh, can’t say it.
Yorke!
Either way the command of his pitches, off speed in particular has been impeccable. Barely 40 pitches through 5
55 pitches through 6, still holding his fastball around 93mph. Good sign, last few starts he was sitting around 90mph.

That sucks to lose it on an infield hit.
Ground ruled double, well hit too.
Last single was roped. 3 for 3 not too shabby.
Taking the series against the meat of Seattle’s rotation is wild.
Be really wild to hang an L to Kirby as well.

Booyah!!! Series clinch and Bednar looked very good! Raise it!!!
Oh sure, sound comes back on after final out.
🏴☠️X58.!
On the first try this time🤪🤣 Even Bednar did good today!
Practice, no matter what Iverson said.
Lol!!!!!
Lol the feed froze again before the final pitch. Raise it.
Come the hell on, guy.
Seriously? Can’t we ever have any easy win?
Yay, sound!
...nvm
My dad called me about that...it's okay on the computer feed for whatever reason.
I kept losing the feed online too!
5 run lead is nice, won't have to fret about Bednar trying to hold a slim lead.
Forgot to write no jinx.
Are you sure????!
It's was an educated guess based on probabilities.
I thought the same….
Mariners are like an NFL team, don't play well on the road.
Bart producing!
.874 OPS. Bailey .654 OPS. Bizarre.
I'll take it! Bailey is a great defensive catcher, so the Giants got that going for 'em.
Whale oil beef hooked! Triolo with the dinger.
Had to Google that one!
BDLC with a positive contribution!
