Gameday 126: Pirates Look To Keep Momentum Versus Cardinals Going With Oviedo On Mound
The Pirates look to continue their strong play against St. Louis with former Cardinal Johan Oviedo on the mound
Going back to their series earlier in the season, the Pirates have now won four in a row against divisional rival St. Louis Cardinals.
Thomas Hatch and Bailey Falter combined for a five-hit, one run performance on Tuesday, with the latter picking up his first win of the season.
The offense came to play on Monday, with five different players picking up multiple-hits, including three doubles from Connor Joe.
With his brother in the other dugout, Josh Palacios went 2-4 with five RBI, picking up his fifth home run of the season in the process.
Adam Wainwright starts for the Cardinals, and while he has struggled this season, owns more wins in his career against the Pirates than any other team in baseball.
Formerly a member of the organization, Johan Oviedo will pitch for the fourth time against his old team. He’s 0-2 in three starts currently, but has a 2.65 ERA in those games.

We've had four miserable years of rebuilding so Dumbo can field a lineup with four AAAA guys, a much-loved but over-the-hill former star who's playing out the string, a career bench guy batting cleanup, and a struggling prospect. Nine players, and only two of them have any chance at all of being key parts of a winning team in Pgh. Rebuilding? It's like tearing down a pawn shop to put up a bail bonds place.
Perrotto is saying Luis Ortiz is with the Pirates and probably starts Wednesday. Nothing like bringing back a guy who put up a 7.77 ERA and a near 2.00 WHIP after he was sent down due to struggling. He was doing worse in Indy.
