So Keller pitched a gem last time, but the 2 starts prior to that and this one were putrid.

Save for one swing from Grandal, this three-game stretch would be a candidate for worst three-game stretch of the season.

Truly. Saturday’s game, which I attended, was some really bad baseball too.

After games like this, I think they should be called the Pittsburgh Bennies.

I'm blacked out on this game -- how'd Rowdy look on the mound? Hope he threw some knuckleballs.

Awful. Hit two batters.

Yeah but they were cubs, so too bad for them.

German, Feigl pitching... Bae in CF.

Tough to win in MLB with about 21 MLB players on a 26 man roster.

21? They added a bunch?

No shit in my estimation they have maybe 5 or 6 ML players.

That Ohio ad is weird.

The one about the youngsters meeting, falling in love, starting a family, all in Ohio? I agree. On paper, sure. But strange execution.

One thing I find difficult to understand about the Cherrington FO is the chances given to players like German. Why is he getting this opportunity? How can one explain this?

He pitched a shutout, 6 IP on Aug. 21.

He didn't pitch well in the Minor Leagues. His promotion was surprising.

I believe I heard he had an out clause at the beginning of August. Apparently BC was afraid to lose him for some reason...

Buccoboy's avatar

Well if you can find yourself to look past his troubles he was once a viable player.

We do like Chapman, right? If Marcel Ozuna was having the year he's having with Braves, but with Pirates, would we be good with that?

In the past decade there have been 17 MLBers suspended for domestic abuse. All continued to play, so most of MLB is willing to give second chances or third chances.

I really don't see German as a problem going forward. He had to wear this 71 pitch debacle and likely will (or should) be on the street by morning.

"Giving chances" implies trying to get better. Cherington isn't interested in that. He's just looking for guys to limp through the season with while Nuttin counts his money.
