Gameday 134: Pirates Look For Sweep Against Kansas City
A late game offensive explosion put the Pirates in position to earn the sweep against the Royals
Colin Selby and Luis Ortiz combined top put on a strong pitching performance for the Pirates, but it was an eighth inning home run that eventually opened things up for the offense.
The offense was held silent right until Ke’Bryan Hayes launched his 11th home run of the season, and the Pirates would go on to score four additional runs in the ninth, winning 6-3.
Pitching the second time as an opener, Selby was fantastic again, striking out one in two perfect innings. Ortiz would come in after that and throw five one-run innings, walking just two.
They will turn to Andre Jackson to go for the sweep today, with a game three expected start time 8:10 pm ET.

Lots of teams making moves today, trying to get better. As if winning was part of the point or something. Fools.
Trey Mancini released by Reds. If I were BC, I'd make a run at him right now with a 2024 contract too. Our black hole at 1B solved.
