So since the Pirates are tanking and looking for next year already, I just have a couple quick questions about our team. Next year who’s playing shortstop, first base in also right field. We have no one in the lower minors that they feel could do it or they would be up already.
I missed the BC show today. Did Brown or Block-I forget who does it-ask him about Yorke and Cook at all? My opinion of BC has plummeted this year. Why he is keeping these veterans around and not promoting the guys HE TRADED FOR and who are raking is mind-boggling to me.
Lmao wow. I would guess Key is one of those bats worse than him? Hahaha. It’s crazy how bad of shape this lineup is in after 5 years of BC. You can’t even try to be this bad.
Davis has hit a few balls hard with nothing to show from it. Hopefully signs of improvement. I think if Michael Taylor makes contact an angel gets its wings
Yep, I liked that Davis spread the ball around today, with 2 being right of 2nd base. All 3 were over 90mph with 2 being 98mph off the bat. Hope he starts finding some holes and gets some confidence.
I've mentioned Oneil going for the single-season strikeout record, but it's possible that Reynolds finishes in the top seven for a season. Here's the top six right now, including the Cruz K from today:
1. Pedro Álvarez (2013) 186
2. Pedro Álvarez (2012) 180
3. Jack Suwinski (2023) 172
4. Craig Wilson (2004) 169
5. Donn Clendenon (1968) 163
6. Oneil Cruz (2024) 157
Reynolds is at 133, a pace that would have him seventh overall. He's currently 18th. They are likely going to be the highest total for two teammates combined for Pirates history. Marte/Alvarez in 2013 had 324
That was the third highest total in baseball history at the time, yet he didn't lead the majors. Reggie Jackson struck out 171 times that year. Before 1968, which was the year of the pitcher, there was one 160+ strikeout season ever. The 1968 season saw teams go wild west on the mound heights, giving pitchers a huge advantage on hitters. That was regulated stricter in 1969, but Bobby Bonds came along that year and struck out 187 times, with no one else finishing close to him.
Man I really find Greg Brown loathsome. He openly cheers for the other teams on his calls and constantly shits on our players. That’s fine, but I have never heard him criticize, manager, GM, or Nutting. He is a loser, type of guy I would never want to work with.

why dont they ever put it on youtube for everyone to hear?
Sounds like I didn't miss much today.
Cook and Yorke so far today
PA 10 AB 7 H 4 BB 3 K 1 HR 2 R 3 RBI 5
Let’s give them a look next spring…,
MAT since Aug. 17:
1-for-27, 16 Ks
You just have to have priorities.
That’s almost hard to believe to be that bad.
There are 336 players with 200+ PAs. Of those, MAT ranks 331st in wRC+.

What are the chances Ben looks to sign one of those 5 guys below him for veteranosity/defense versatility next season
1 he's probably thinking 2 or 3.
Almost guaranteed.

Given the style of play and appetite for strikeouts in the 60's, Clendenon's feat is the most 'impressive'.

Yorke just missed another hard hit double, ball went over the fence. 1st homerun in the organization
I’m sure fans in Indy can look forward to lots more.
They got Cook with a 3 run homer as well, lucky bass terds.
Why in the world is MAT still on this roster. Maybe to mentor Cruz but getting starts is absolutely embarrassing for this franchise
Ahhhh well just back to standard, boring suckage.
Can Bucs pinch hit Jose Tabata to break this up?
Why don’t we just have a player currently on the roster get lips tattooed on the neck and the luck will transfer. We all know the ink was the trick!
I'll take credit for the jinx... it is over.
Borucki is nothing if not efficient.
Great to see him back out there for hopefully the rest of the season, regardless of results. His absence was certainly felt this year.

Ditto
So true he is a total hack!
Kyle Manzardo just found his home run derby pitcher!
I'm surprised Brownie hasn't yet called his HR's "hot potatoes", given his fascination with Idaho.
I've never seen a team's hitters take so many strikes and swing at as many bat pitches.
Let me revise my prediction: Pirates get no hit by a superior organization.
Getting uhhhh "interesting"
