I'm sure I'll get some push back on this opinion and my disdain for Shelton makes me subjective but in a truly meaningless game other than for bragging rights why would you let a potential important part of your rotation going forward throw 97 pitches in 3 and two-thirds. I don't remember how many pitches he had before he came out for the fourth but it was pointless.
I wasn't able to watch the game so you have a better take then me, but I watched the mlb recap and I think it was a Cards announcer that mentioned he was at 45 pitches at some point in the second inning and he used the term "forty-five stressful pitches", lol. I admit that I can't be objective about any move Shelton makes so I appreciate your comment.
I'm the same with Shelton. My reasoning for allowing him to come back out for the 4th. Oviedo only threw about 15 pitches in the 3rd. It looked like he might have found his control, that was not the case.
I had a crazy thought this morning before the game. I love Cutch because he was the main guy who got the Pirates out of their 20 year funk and he wants to retire as a Pirate and remain in the organization. I say fire Haines and offer Cutch his job for next year. No sane person could claim he could do worse then Andy "effing" Haines, lol.
Assume you’re talking Capra and no argument with that but an actual first baseman fields that throw easily. Swiss cheese lineup today. Holes everywhere.

we´re in the hunt - 7 games out
I didn't mind him coming back out for the 4th so much, but not pulling him at the first sign of struggle in the 4th was negligent.

Welp. Hard to win a game where your pitchers walk 9 batters in a game. Good fight
Obviously the walks aren’t good but despite nine of them only three of the six runs were earned. Those two errors cost them the game.
there are better depth options that that dribble we rolled out there today
Bad game, but also very weird game. Surprised that they overturned it
Interesting Rule 5 guy staying offspeed, How did we win that challenge?!!
The Baseball Gods had pity on the Bucs after all the other weirdness that they perpetrated upon themselves today.
Sick of the walks
B bullpen is out in force tonight ugh
Giants and Dbacks both down by 3 runs early.
Smh.
Please take advantage of the walks!!
Thank god! Juuuuust not enough to overturn.
A real first baseman makes the scoop. And doesn't bounce a 100' throw to the catcher.
BC needs to fix 1B this winter.
three way trade with Mets and Toronto
Mets dump Marte´s salary to the Pirates and send Alonso to the Blue Jays
Pirates acquire Manoah and Vld Jr for Priester, Nick and Harrington to New York and Contreras to the Blue Jays
Lol funny! I said fix 1B. I don't necessary need an All-Star.....but ok.
son of a aghas aslkjaslak aslkja
why is he even in the game????
he shouldt even be on the team

Smh!!! Yes challenge that
Well okay looks safe
Suwinski, Capra and Delay a big fat 0-9. What a surprise.
I forgot that Z was on the roster and i really wish he wasnt
reds lose
Leadoff walk and then the defense not helping out ugh. Peguero giveth and Peguero taketh away.
Good time for a double play ball now though.
