Gameday 14: Pirates look to erase first losing streak of season with Bailey Falter on the mound
Falter faces his former team as the Pirates have dropped two straight.
Jared Jones struck out eight batters in 6.2 innings, but a pair of home runs allowed three runs for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The offense struck out 13 times on the night, and the Pirates have their first losing streak of the season after dropping the first of four to the Phillies 5-1.
A ninth-inning RBI single by Jared Triolo, scoring Edward Olivares, was the only thing that kept them from being shutout.
Bailey Falter will pitch for the Pirates. He allowed five earned runs in the first inning of this season and has surrendered just one more in the nine since.
He will be opposed by another lefty, Cristopher Sanchez.
First pitch is expected at 6:40 pm ET.

Yesterday’s Feature
I went affiliate by affiliate and listed some players to watch for the 2024 season who perhaps aren’t quite household names. I wrapped things up with Bradenton on Thursday.
Today’s Feature
Khristian Curtis made his professional debut this past Sunday, and while the stuff looked promising, he will need to improve his control to take things to the next level. I broke Curtis’ pitch arsenal and some things I liked from his debut.
Skenes has 8 Ks in 3 scoreless IP. Obviously needs to come out.
Lonnie White falls a triple short of a cycle again.
Meanwhile, Jebb goes 0-5 with 4 Ks and a GIDP. Termarr 0-5, 3 Ks. Batting .091. White must have hired a private coach.
