Cutch!!!

Cruz is turning into a nightmare at SS.

Which multi year All Star is having a worse season.....Merrifield or Cutch? It's a close call.

Expand full comment

I think Cutch basically took off spring training so he could last the full season at his age.

I'd argue Merrifield since he's expected to still show up in the outfield regularly. Cutch is just a concession to the lack of enough hitters to field a proper DH. Also, fan service.

Not sure 'Cutch was fully beyond the Achilles issue long enough to get ready for 2024. A 1.3 fWAR in 2023, he surprised me with the 19 doubles, 12 HR, and 75 BB. He's a leader and glad to see him in the clubhouse, but I think he should probably announce his retirement later this year and start the HOF Clock.

Raise it!! 10 down and 148 to go!!!!

Nice ugly win, with some good things too. BRey nice game on defense and I don't know how he beat out that DP ball. Hank with 2 hits, 2 rbi. Bednar back on the horse and looked better, still room to get better. #BaileyCanPitch.

Huge win! Let's get another tomorrow.

Expand full comment

Just so great to see Bednar respond with a strong appearance!

Bucs are undefeated in games started by Bailey Falter. Just sayin'.

Expand full comment

I was one of Falter's biggest supporters, but turned on him on opening day. Not proud of it.

Expand full comment

I was never a supporter. I am still not.

Expand full comment

I was a big supporter of keeping him in the organization as a long reliever and spot starter when needed.

Expand full comment

He has a left arm. He was always going to get the look.

In a year where the Pirates were searching for SP's, Falter got the opportunity and has made it work. His 5 IP and around 70 pitches last night has been about the best we can expect, and the BP can handle the rest. He's out of Options and I doubt the Pirates are looking at him long term.

Raise it!!

No more losing streak!

And feels great to win *this* game that was.. very bizarre.. a lot of gifted runs

Bucs win! Let's fucking go!

Expand full comment

Bednar has control of the fastball, nothing else.

Been that way. The curve looks better tonight, but the one splitter that he threw was as bad as as it has been... way off the mark and not fooling anyone.

Let’s see if the Kielbasa Closer can rebound…

I hate the thought of seeing Bednar in bottom of 9th. Please get some run(s)

Expand full comment

It looks like it’s gonna happen. Everyone take a deep breath. Yikes. Don’t know if I can stand to watch this again. It might be time to take the dog for a walk.

Expand full comment

All right. We had ‘em all the way.

Expand full comment

Shiver me timbers!

Expand full comment

He's gonna put 'em down 1-2-3.

You would think after his last outing that will be a enormous task since he just didn't have a bad outing last time he literally imploded, lol. But Ben/Derek get the big bucks.

Expand full comment

Damn. Got Marsh with the changeup. Nice!

Expand full comment

Please don't tell me Chapman is about to walk a run in

Expand full comment

That's sort of why Texas and Kansas City never used him as a fireman. He can get you out of a jam with Ks, but he can also make a bad situation worse.

Expand full comment

This is Fleming’s jam anyway.

Expand full comment

Phew.

BRey!!!!

Never any doubt.
