Gameday 146: Jackson Rutledge Makes Major League Debut Against Pirates
After bouncing back on Tuesday, Pirates will face rookie making major league debut
The Pirates bounced back on Tuesday night, defeating the Washington Nationals 5-1, tying up their four game series at one a piece.
Bailey Falter picked up his second win of the season, both with the Pirates, after pitching six innings of one run baseball, and the bullpen closed it out without needing David Bednar.
Four Pirates collected multiple hits, one of which was Josh Palacios who also hit his eighth home run of the season.
They will face 6’8” Jackson Rutledge, who will make his major league debut. Formerly a first round pick back in 2019, Rutledge has a 3.71 ERA this season split across two levels. He’s struck out 106 batters in 119 innings, and has struggled a bit with walks this year (55).

Thank you for putting together Bucs On Deck Anthony. After a shaky couple weeks, you have nailed a very good format. I look forward to my daily Substack notification, which usually isn’t the case. I like how you have stitched all of the feature articles into this daily game thread. I also like that Bailey Falter and Luis Ortiz are starting to look like genuine starters.
