Gameday 148: Gerrit Cole returns to Pittsburgh to face Johan Oviedo
Former first overall pick for the Pirates returns to PNC Park
After winning three of four against the Washington Nationals, the Pirates will play a weekend set to conclude their home stand and will see a familiar face on the mound opposing them.
The team’s first round pick in 2011, Gerrit Cole will lead the New York Yankees into Pittsburgh to face the Pirates for just the second time in his career since being traded away.
New York is currently tied with the Red Sox for the bottom of the division with a record of 74-73.
After winning on Thursday, the Pirates now have a 69-78 record.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm ET for both the Friday and Saturday games, and the series finale having a expected start time of 1:35 pm ET

Ben & Derry deserve a lot of the blame for this fiasco, due to their dimwitted insistence that every player is a utility player. If Bae is a second baseman, play him at second. If he's a center fielder, keep him there and put a second baseman at second. They have Nick G. He's no glove wizard, but he IS a second baseman. But, no, he's been stuck in AAA because they have to have Mario Mendoza and Ben's cousin Vinny. You have to wonder whether trying to win major league games will ever take precedence over Ben & Derry just playing around.
Wow, horrible job by Holderman, horrible defense.
