Gameday 152: Jake Woodford returns to make start for Pirates against Cardinals
Jake Woodford vs Sonny Gray
The Pittsburgh Pirates will dip into the minors to bring up an arm to make the start for them on Wednesday. Jake Woodford is expected to return and start against his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
After scoring just a single run in the first two games of the series, the Pirates will look to get the offense going.
They got a bit of a spark at the bottom of the order, with Nick Yorke picking up the first three hits of his major league career.
Bryan De La Cruz was responsible for the only run, hitting his 20th home run of the season and the second as a Pirate.
The Pirates will face Sonny Gray, who picked up the win in his only appearance against them this season. He tossed seven innings of one-run baseball, striking out nine batters while walking just one.
First pitch is expected around 7:45 pm ET.
