Gameday 158: Luis Ortiz faces Freddy Peralta in middle of three against Brewers
Luis Ortiz vs Freddy Peralta
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to even up their series against the Brewers at a game apiece on Wednesday.
They outhit the Brewers on Tuesday but lost 7-2. Bailey Falter allowed four earned runs in five innings pitched, with Jared Triolo and Nick Yorke driving in a run each, representing the only scoring the Pirates would get.
Luis Ortiz will pitch for the Pirates as he looks to close out the 2024 season strong. He allowed two earned runs over six innings, with seven strikeouts, in his last start against the Cardinals.
He’s faced the Brewers twice, both out of the bullpen, and has allowed just two earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out nine across 4.2 innings pitched.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm ET.

Have the Pirates' AFL participants been mentioned here? I'm kinda tired from hurricane prep so I haven't been keeping up totally. Just in case:
Brandan Bidois, RHP
Mike Burrows, RHP
Khristian Curtis, RHP
Derek Diamond, RHP
Eddy Yean, RHP
Geovanny Planchart, C
Termarr Johnson, 2B
Kervin Pichardo, INF
Sammy Siani, OF
The inclusion of Yean may mean they've signed him to a MiL deal for next year. I'm pretty sure he's due for free agency this fall.
That had to of felt good for Peguero
