Gameday 159: Pirates wrap up road schedule with one more in Philadelphia
Try to avoid sweep of last road series of season.
The Pirates put themselves in position to win Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, jumping up to a 5-0 lead against Ranger Suarez.
Henry Davis drove in a pair of runs, with Connor Joe and Jack Suwinski chipping in extra-base hits. Johan Oviedo got off to a strong start but eventually surrendered the lead and couldn’t pick up his 10th win of the season in what was his last start of 2023.
Thursday will mark the final away game for the Pirates during the 2023 season, with just one more series against the Miami Marlins this weekend.
Luis Ortiz will get the start, and will be opposed to Zack Wheeler with first pitch expected 6:05 pm ET.
