It will be interesting to see what the Cards do because they will spend the money. The frustrating thing for me with the Pirates is if they weren't going to spend the money then they should have just "let the kids play" but in my opinion the Pirates waste too many at bats with waivers by giving them a longer audition then they should get.
Got 1 more! One more to go! We win at least 2 out of 3:we could keep Miami out of the playoffs. Winn two of 3 from the Cubs and the Reds have made their run much harder. We are not playing for a playoff spot but playing in meaningful games down to the last series. I love this game 😁😁😁
Triolo stays hot! He's riding a super high babip but loving that he is seeing success all the same! Even as that comes down, him hitting the ball with more impact is a tangible improvement we love
He wasn't going to see much time at SS going forward anyway. Just don't know what exactly to do with him. If Cruz is SS, Peggy is 2b and Triolo is 1b, Nick doesn't seem like the type who can be on the bench for extended periods and provide any offense. I fear he'd probably K >>50% in that kind of role.
I'm actually good with Jack out there. Sure, there's a bit of a tradeoff on D, but I don't think Bucs benefit from having anyone in any position who can't hit.
I love Palacios. I'm just not sure he'll contribute more in the long run than Andujar could. I guess key is Davis. If Hank stays in RF with occasional C duties, then Palacios is probably better suited for a P/T role than Andjuar is. Just hope we can get something for Andujar is BC decides to part ways. Dude hits the ball hard.
FG has 1.7, which could go up a hair after today. He's on the plus side for offense, defense and baserunning. WAR loves guys like this. LIke, damn, you don't have to hit 30 HRs to be really good!
I'm old enough to remember when the Pirates were competitive years at a time with a few guys who would hit 15 to 20 homers, tons of doubles, lots of triples and would just have a couple of bashers like Stargell and Parker, lol.
Ha I think the floor has been lifted with the current group, I'm just unsure of the ceiling/upside. I feel the bigger upside will come from next year's arms.
You don't get highlighted in the paper tomorrow making the right call. Do you know the name of the ump at 2nd base without looking it up? That's Angel's thought process. 😆
When I see Angel on the field like tonight all I can think of is Jimmy Dugan: “Has anyone ever told you that you look like a penis with a little hat on?”
Did we clinch 4th place last night or tonight, lol. Baby steps!
Last night. At least 13 more wins than last year. Nice improvement

My God. You're right Termarr and Bubba should be getting innings
At this point, im not sure why skenes didnt take the ball every 3rd day to end the year
No 200 IP for Keller. He's officially been shut down.
Just as well!

Bednar needs two saves vs the Marlins to reach 40.

Good win. Played Phils relatively even all series. Progress. I think we're up to having >50% of active roster being actual MLBers.
This game looked like the worst pitching matchup for the Bucs, by far. So, of course . . . .
Nick playing his way off the team

I hope Dauri is with us next year.
Dont see why he wouldnt be!
The control him so……..
I would like to get Pache, don't know if he'll hit but he sure can play centerfield, and it wouldn't cost much.

Did Nick take throwing lessons from Pedro?
The other trade off is he can’t hit LH pitching…
delay too
More as a short side platoon or 5th outfielder. His defense in center is special, his bat???
rather Palacios at this point

Ortiz hung in to have a nice game after the bumpy start.
Triolo . . . damn.
And . . . SSS obviously, but OAA has him above avg at first, second and third.
Not sure whether they use Fangraphs or Baseball Reference, but the ESPN stats page has him at 2.0 WAR. This is in 169 at bats. Very impressive.

making it clear that we should not be wasting money on a washing up first baseman
Going to be something when he ends up the best of the current prospect bunch! Lol
It’s always the guys you least expect.
He may be the best but thinking way too soon to give up on the rest. Could be a really good core for several years 😁

I'm not lifting any floors or ceilings until we see an actual Cherington draft pick start a game for the Pirates and not be a complete 0.
I like your thinking, there's 4 top of the rotation arms that can debut with a couple mid to backend guys.
Triolo raising that slugging and RBI's tonight.
Poor Angel. Doesn’t he know Bryce would never swing at a pitch like that…🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was a terrible call, Angel loves being mentioned on TV and radio. He's a firm believer in any press is good press. 🤣
It’s Angel……of course it was a terrible call. 🤣🤣🤪🤪

Nice couple of hits by Bae and Triolo.
I’ve seen two at bats from Nick, one last night and just now.... swinging at everything.
Hasnt changed from earlier in the season!
