Gameday 18: Pirates look to rebound after rough loss to the Mets
Jared Jones scheduled to pitch for the Pirates
What started as a pitcher duel turned into a Pirates lead that they eventually couldn’t hold, dropping game one of a three-game set against the New York Mets.
Martin Perez pitched five shutout innings and came out for the fifth with a 3-0 lead before giving up a pair of runs and getting pulled.
Hunter Stratton entered the game and gave up a double to DJ Stewart, scoring Brett Baty (on after getting a hit off of Perez).
The Mets scored three more runs in the eighth inning, all charged to Aroldis Chapman, who only recorded one out.
Oneil Cruz had a rough day at the plate, going 0-4 with 3 K. Rowdy Tellez and Connor Joe also punched out multiple times.
Jared Jones will be on the mound for the Pirates and will face a familiar face, Jose Quintana.
First pitch is expected around 7:10 pm ET.

Ercolani, otoh, having another good start so far.
No offense and no bullpen. Probably not a winning formula.
