Gameday 21: Pirates kick off weekend series against Cleveland Guardians
Carmen Mlodzinski vs Luis Ortiz
The Pittsburgh Pirates secured a series victory against the Washington Nationals, taking three of four games. Andrew Heaney had another fantastic outing and combined with Ryan Borucki and Dennis Santana to pitch a shutout.
Oneil Cruz’s leadoff home run was enough to bring the Pirates’ record to 8-12 as they shift focus to the Cleveland Guardians this weekend.
They will have a familiar face on the other side, as Luis Ortiz kicks off the series for the Guardians. He was traded to Cleveland in the offseason in the Spencer Horwitz deal.
Carmen Mlodzinski is scheduled to pitch for the Pirates, with a scheduled start time of 6:40 pm ET.
Paul Skenes and Mitch Keller are currently scheduled to follow Mlodzinski for the rest of the series.

That was an incredible game I just watched. What a comeback by Greensboro
Javi Rivas put the team on his back and willed them to that one. Grand slam to spark them. Walk off single to win it.
Five hit night
Last year’s 6th round pick, Matt Ager, is joining Bradenton. They haven’t announced a starter for tonight, so it may be him.
