So how long does this crap with Mlod continue? It’s obvious —- he would be an effective reliever and is completely miscast as a starter. It’s insane that this management team just stubbornly does things that are so obviously wrong.
And why is Nicholas in the majors? He was terrible at Indy, yet they promoted him.
They didn’t get the result they wanted, but it was nice to see the offense battle back and show some fight tonight.
You made good on your promise of giving Mlodzinski a chance to start and it didn’t work out. Move on. Send him to the pen, send Nicholas back to Indy. Call up whichever AAA starter up to take his place.
Send Jack to AAA. Call up Yorke and let him play 2nd. Let Frazier play once a week.
The 404 is complete unsustainable, but it's nice to see the power. Based on his build and power profile, it's easy to make an Oneil Cruz comparison. Would be a very fun outcome.
I would rather have Bryce Johnson as the fourth outfielder if they’re committed to starting Pham every day.
I said coming out of spring training that if Suwinski and Bae were just going to ride the bench, they should just go to Indy and play consistently. Not every player can sit all week and play one game and give you competitive at bats, especially if they’re young and still trying to get established in the majors. Certain guys have that skillset, Jack certainly does not.
He’s certainly not doing himself any favors and he’s definitely running out of time, but Jack needs to go to AAA.
Yes, he was just traded to San Diego. I was just using him as an example due to him being with the club in spring training. You can replace “Bryce Johnson” in that sentence with essentially any veteran journeyman outfielder.
Imo, the mental part of the game is often ignored by some of the decisions. Jack's confidence is shot. That at bat only makes it worse. The same goes with Bednar and Holderman before they were put in high leverage situations. for their last appearance. After Keller hit DeJong, you could see Keller couldn't think straight, but he was left out there for 3 more batters that all reached bases. I know most don't want Mlodzinski starting or going a second time through the order, but how many hits are they going to let Mlodzinski give up before they figure out he was done.
Agree, the bench choices aren't great, Canario hasn't had a game AB since when, Hank has sucked vs. velocity. Probably Key was the right guy to PH for Jack.
White interests me just because he's one of the few guys who doesn't fit the Pirates' standard hitting prospect profile (contact/walks with a hope of growing into power).

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

That was an incredible game I just watched. What a comeback by Greensboro
Javi Rivas put the team on his back and willed them to that one. Grand slam to spark them. Walk off single to win it.
Five hit night
Rivas is batting .404.

Didn’t they just trade Johnson? I thought they got the veteran catcher for him

yes to the Padres for a minor league catcher.
Rivas walks it off with a single, going 5 for 6 with the granny.
8-foot tall shortstops who hit for power at all the rage these days.
In hindsight, does Canario give us a better chance than Jack in that last AB. For the tying HR. Or Hank. Or Key just to keep the inning going.

Whatever happened to the Suwinski of ‘23?
Fun last inning but not enough. Appreciate the “fight” we are seeing though.
Amazing play but also a huge base running mistake. You gotta be 100% sure on that.
That was just bad luck and a great play by Kwan. Nothing you can do about that.
Reynolds run didn’t matter—it’s not a time to go for the extra base. I guess you could make the case that he was taking the double play out.
In any case, one of the best plays I’ve seen a LF make .
What a carom to Kwan.....smh. Then he nailed the throw.
Don't hold your breath, but Frazier looks good at the plate lately. He's always been a good contact hitter.
Luis Ortiz starts this year
4.2 in 9 hits 7 runs 2 k's
6 in 7 hits 3 runs 3 k's
5.2 in 1 hits 1 run 10k's
5 in 4 hits 2 run 8 k's (tonight retired last 8 batters)
Lonnie White just tied up the Greensboro game with a 2 run homer. He's 3 for 5 with the homerun and a double.
White interests me just because he's one of the few guys who doesn't fit the Pirates' standard hitting prospect profile (contact/walks with a hope of growing into power).
If anyone is a Twitter user still, I just posted that there.
If not I’ll have it on my live report tomorrow morning
It looked like it was crushed.
Seems like years, and he's still in A ball.
If he would have went to college, this would have been his first full year.
He's had injuries, missed a lot of time.
Don’t look now but Valdez now has the 3rd highest OPS on the team behind Cruz and Bart
I hate that he’s receiving regular playing time at first, but he does look like a solid bench piece at this point
Can Carmen just replace Nicolas in the bullpen and bring up Harrington or Chandler now?
Marauder pitchers having themselves a night. That has not been the strength of the team this season.
On a brighter note, Rivas is 4 for 4 with a granny.
Escotto is 3 for 4
