Gameday 34: Jared Jones on the mound as Pirates look to end losing streak
Pirates lost game one to the Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies entered Friday night with just seven wins and having never been in a game without trailing.
Not only did they add another win to their record, but they held the lead from beginning to end.
A ninth-inning home run by Oneil Cruz kept the Pirates from being shutout against the team that has allowed the most runs in baseball.
Cal Quantrill pitched 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits while striking out nine.
Jared Triolo picked up half of the Pirates’ hits with a pair of singles. Martin Perez was cruising through five innings but hit a rough six and ended up with three earned runs charged against him.
After arguably his ‘worst’ outing in the majors, Jared Jones will look to help the Pirates end their five-game losing streak.
He will be opposed by Austin Gomber for the Rockies, with the first pitch expected around 4:05 pm ET.
