Over our last eleven games and excluding that crazy 10th inning, we’ve scored in exactly eleven innings. Twice we’ve scored in two innings and we’ve been shut out twice and in the other seven games we’ve only scored in a single inning. This strikes me as pretty remarkable.
Haines needs to go, but face reality. This team doesn’t have enough major league caliber hitters. Teaching some of these guys to hit has to be like trying to teach a pig to sing.
True enough. Just look at tonight's lineup. The top five, at best, are borderline mediocre as a group, and that's generous. The bottom four aren't major league hitters. It's not even a decent AAA lineup. Yet the two morons responsible for putting it on the field continue to insist that they don't dare break it up.
There are four guys who are salvageable and could be part of a decent lineup (Reynolds, Hayes, Cruz and Joe, as a utility player primarily) but the rest of this current roster has no business in the major leagues at least not now. Triolo could possibly develop into a real player eventually but that remains to be seen.
People can love on Jack Suwinski and his boyish smile all they want, but he does not belong on any reputable major league roster. If he’s one of your three best outfielders, you don’t have enough decent outfielders, which of course the Pirates do not. Management can pretend and lie all they want, but unless some kind of changes happen this team will remain at or near the bottom of the standings all year.
A new hitting coach with bona fides at helping major league hitters and not some guy who shares a desk-jockey's "philosophy" of hitting would help some, but yeah... no one is going to transform this bunch into a group of HoFers.
I don't think the top 5 are mediocre. They are the bottom 5 in a decent lineup. As a top 5, they are garbage. Hayes is a groundball machine who should be batting 9th. McCutchen is looking worse by the game. Joe is a mediocre platoon player who stands out on the Pirates because he is 1 of 2 players currently producing at starter level, and Olivares is a DH-only bat who can only hit junk.
Taylor had one year with an OPS + above 100 and that was a decade ago. Suwinski was 116 last year and is 25 years old, I’ll go with the lesser defense but the livelier bat. Taylor may be finished as an MLB player.

Trust the process
It’s like Spring Training never ends with this team.
Oh no! We suck again!!! Streak over just like that . Still on 17 and 125 to goooo…….
Quick summary of the 2024 Pirates: Haines fired when?

B-b-b-but . . . . . the weather!!
The Pirates are reasserting their identity as a Cherington team.
Cole Tucker is still a baby giraffe
Like Gregory Polanco?
When does the love affair with Michael A. Taylor end for Shelty? Get Suwinski in there!!!

i miss the version of cutch where he tomahawks his swing and turns his wrist over the ball in the follow through
i´ve had about had enough of watch strike three then bitch and complain version of cutch
This is the washed up version of Cutch. There was no need to bring back for another season.
there is nothing wrong with his bat speed from what i can see
he just buys into what Andy Haines has been telling him since they both were in Miliwaukee
that was the type of swing I was talking about
Nick just hit another homer a few minutes ago in the minors.
What if we did offense?
It bears repeating:
Haines fired when?
Errors that get scored as FCs really hurt this inning.
Yikes Quinn…
LOL WHO CALLED THAT PILLAR DINGER
1979 saw that coming. Hope they put a dime on it.
Yeah, but how. Pillar barely belongs in the bigs…..I’m not saying it’s aliens…..👽
Biff Tannen's the name, baseball's the game!
Need a groundball here QP
Nvm, launch angle was all wrong
Rough game from CoTuck so far
Cole Tucker isn’t really a 3B. I guess Ron Washington never saw Moneyball. It’s hard to pick up a new position.
