I wouldn't, don't think Lee can hit big league pitching enough to justify Keller. Lee will probably be a good super utility with an average glove and little below average bat. Don't get me wrong I like Lee but think the only position he's possibly an above average regular is 2nd base if the bat upticks. Cherington is probably drooling on the thought of acquiring him lol
Especially with a fellow Pittsburgher as closer. But in fairness, Bednar hadn't pitched since Saturday and you don't want your closer, or any reliever, going more than about four days without an appearance.
I’d change it from closer to “fireman.” The quickest way this team turns things around are through leveraging some of their high-octane arms (Burrows, Barco, Ashcraft) in multi inning bullpen roles. I don’t think all three have to be in the pen, but if they had a pair of them in the pen, coming in like Ashcraft did last night…
Please, please, please let Kelly prove to be a believer in the firefighter role. No team should use its best reliever as a closer. Closer should be at best a team's third best pitcher (basically, I think a team should have two firefighters).
A small encouraging move by Kelly. Hated how Shelton used guys only in particular innings with no regard to matchups or how they look that night. Or how they’d pitched recently.
Anyone know where BA has Konnor in their top 100 update today?
27, up from 42.
Awesome, thank you!
Twins just lost Pablo Lopez for multiple months do to injury. I wonder if Heaney is on there radar.
Keller for Brooks Lee?

🤤
Booyah!!!! Nice start by Burrows and good work from the pen. Raise it!!!!!!!
Chuck from Uniontown proposed Chandler for Roman Anthony on the postgame. Zangrilli said nay.
sources saying Mitch to the Nationals for Dylon Crews
Stop it
You can’t stop the signal.
How's it feel Asstrohs?
raise it!
Back to back 3-0 games. Pretty unusual. Series all even.
rtjr
Bullpen looking good tonight
About as uneventful of a Bednar save as you'll ever get.
Damn. Three inning save?
I wish.
I dont think Kelly is brave enough to go against the managers Bible. Only happens if they get a run here

Regardless of how this turns out, I fully endorse another inning for Ashcraft.
Ashcraft claiming the 7th inning duties, closer by middle of next year?

I wish he would get innings 7 thru 9 when his stuff is working.

Like Johnny Gage & Roy DeSoto!
That was an impressive high leverage debut.
A new denizen of the Circle of Trust!
You know the Circle of Trust can be a temporary one.
Gotta like Ashcraft's two Ks.
One was slider slider sinker slider.
The other was fourseamer change curve.
The 4S and sinker were 97.
I wonder if we get him in the eighth. Looked like he’s got a good feel for all his pitches tonight.
With Shelton that would be a definite no. With Kelly, who knows. I'm guessing Santana.
Yes that’s what I’m expecting too.
Well looky there.

Glad to see Endy back in the hit column.
He's made solid contact all three ABs
My hope for our own Craig Biggio is alive. Not Canaan.
We'll settle for Russell Martin!
Chase “The Strander” Shugart. Someone put a stat on here a few days ago about how he’s done a tremendous job not letting inherited runners score.
Speaking of Stros. Anyone ever drink an ice cold Stroh's beer?
Sure am glad that Missle is the one Bucco I have on the Bream Ons. BRey is long gone. Cruz can pull out some ridiculous stat lines.
Coors Extra gold, anyone?
Bud Dry. Why ask why?
Fond memories of strohs from college. On a hot day, an ice cold shitty American beer always hits (looking at you, PBR. You too, Hamm's)
I remember mid 90s thinking MGD and High Life (champagne of them) were high class. Latrobe Rolling Rock was my pre of age go to. And natty ice.
